Getting Kidney Cancer Resource up the Rankings……….

Well, it’s official, this SEO stuff is driving me potty.  The target is to hit page 1 of a google search using the search string of “UK Kidney Cancer”.  Over the past few weeks I’ve seen some success, we’ve gone from page 28 to page 2 or page 3.
Now that’s the thing, it seems [...]

Inspiration…..

I just love those rare moments when I come across a track that inspires me to write music, it doesn’t happen often but it did today when I listened to Rokhsan Heydari’s latest track on SellaBand called “Black Room”.  I must get to one of her gigs soon.
I think what I like about her music [...]

Kidney Cancer Resource Next Steps….

In a previous blog I outlined what I was doing  to try and improve the user experience on KCR, and I thought I’d give an update on progress.

Consistent formatting on each page
Each page cross referenced
Removal of duplicate or redundant pages
Addition of the forum template where it’s been missing

These were the first tasks on my plate [...]

Kidney Cancer Snake-Oil……..

I admit it, I’m one of those people who is easily drawn into false promises of hope, heck I even failed to win the lottery last night!
Prior to my Nephrectomy I paced the floor endlessly panicking about what may or may not be, did I have cancer? didn’t I have cancer?  As [...]

NHS Spending an Observation……..

As some of the users on KidneyCancerResource will have realised, over the past week or so I’ve been going through every page on the site and checking them for format issues and content, deleting defunct pages, creating redirects for duplicate pages and simplifying where I can.  Why? Well to make things easier for everyone, once [...]

One Page to Go!!!! …………

Nearly there, KidneyCancerResource hit page 2 today in the “UK Kidney Cancer” google search test.  This is a fair leap, at this rate we should hit page one within the next week.
I’m looking forward to the next SEO challenge will be to get it onto page one by just searching for “Kidney Cancer”. I think [...]

Information Provision …………..

I think this is a tough one to resolve.  It’s the same with everything not just Kidney Cancer, but it has made me think.  There were 2 items brought up on the KidneyCancerResource Forum

Why isn’t all information put up on the KCR web-site? Why do people hold certain stuff back?
What level of information do the [...]

UK Kidney Cancer Pipelines …….

Let’s face it, you wouldn’t want to be seriously ill in this country would you, well at least not without a degree or phd in pipeline engineering.  This diagram below somehow (and I’ve yet to figure it out) explains the process of getting drugs if they are… and I quote …. Non Tariff Non-NICE (NTNN) [...]

You’d be forgiven for believing that living in Darlington was not optimal…..

However if you lived in Richmond North Yorkshire and had high Grade Kidney Cancer then you’d wish you did live in Darlington (less than 7 Miles away).
That is the fate of Barbara Selby who is having to fight to get the drugs she needs to keep her alive. The North Yorkshire and York PCT are refusing [...]

Kidney Cancer Resource. Big Jump……

Well, I kind of figured that moving the KidneyCancerResource wiki site onto the root folder would have a positive impact on the rankings, however I didn’t expect such a huge jump so soon.  We’ve gone from page 28 a couple of weeks ago to page 3 today!!  This is still based on the search criteria [...]
